The Weekenders have planned a series of events up until August and there is an information slip available at the July meeting with all the details so please help yourself and come and join us. A copy of the programme will also be on the Hucknall U3A website. All events organised by either the Lunch Group or the Weekenders Group are open to all U3A members, regardless of whether they are regulars or not. Obviously places are sometimes limited so it’s first come, first served; I should be grateful if you could let me know if you are interested in these events as soon as possible so that I can let other members know if I have places left.
On June 6th we widened our historical knowledge with a trip to the wonderful Richard III Exhibition in Leicester; some of us followed it up with listening to a short organ recital in the Cathedral, followed by a bit of shopping (of course) and lunch and ice cream as it was an extremely hot day.
Our Social Evening on June 18th didn’t go to plan however. We were going to watch the DVD “Woman in a Van” at my house, followed by a pizza supper. Not being technical, I asked my son in law to check my DVD player. “OK” he said “Where is it?”. “There” I said, pointing to under the TV stand. “That’s your Virgin box” he said. “Oh” I said “Well what’s that then” pointing to underneath the Virgin box. “That’s a VHS cassette player”. Oh dear! Then I vaguely remembered I had given the DVD player to my son as I didn’t use it (the last time was when my grand-daughter put a Mamma Mia! DVD in when she was five and she is now twelve! Told you I was not technical! But we managed to have a good supper and many laughs.
