Category Archives: New Groups
Dusting off skills almost learned by members several decades ago, the new table tennis group began in April. With expert coaching for those who can play and even better coaching for the most of us who can’t, the group meets at United Reform Church, off Farleys Lane, 2:30 to 4:30pm every Wednesday (except monthly meeting day). Weapons provided, just bring refreshments.
Firstly please remember I am a terrified amateur at flower arranging, but I am willing to give it a go with your help.
For February 7th, 2022, 1.30 – 3.30pm please bring:-
A container – (smallish) with some oasis sticking out about 2 inches above the rim.
Spring flowers – I usually buy the pots of spring bulbs and cut the flowers off (hard I know) but then I pop the bulbs in the garden in the hope that Chardonnay the squirrel leaves a few to flower next year).
Some foliage – that will enhance the flowers such as box, privet, cyclamen leaves.
Some moss – if you have it.
Sharp scissors or secateurs
Bag for rubbish
Something to cover the table – I have used a cut up black bag.
At the first meeting we can discuss what we want to get out of the group as I don’t want it to be a group where people just watch. I want people to go away with a creation they are proud of. Transport of creations can be arrange in needed.
Some of the thoughts I have had are:-
a) a trip to Flora Media to have a professional flower arrange show us how it is done.
b) a trip to a cathedral to see a flower festival (C19 willing)
I am sure you will be able to come up with other ideas. Please feel free to contact me, Siobhan, if you need some help with the oasis or anything else on email@example.com
The Flower arranging group will welcome the New Year in with a meeting on Monday,7th February, 2022 in the Portland room at the John Godber Centre.
Time: 1.30pm – 3.30pm
Room hire: £30. 50 for the 2 hours so we need at least 15 people at £2 each otherwise the group will be non-viable.
The Group will be led by its members with each member playing an active part.
Proposed dates for 2022
2nd May (no session bank holiday)
5th December (no session U3A Christmas dinner)
If you are interested please contact Siobhan via the form below or the phone number you have for the Groups Coordinator.
This group will start on Wednesday 28th June at Hucknall Leisure Centre.
This is a joint venture with Hucknall Leisure Centre aimed at getting Ladies back into sports.
The sessions will be every Wednesday from this date. You do not have to commit to every Wednesday but you do need to play at least once a month to keep the group viable.
The group will be looking for volunteers to go on the training course to become a coach. So if you are interested, pop along and join the group.
The main thing is to enjoy yourselves.
Contact at the moment is Siobhan Lee 0115 9550119 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Fun with Languages will start on Thursday 12th January 10.30am – 12.30pm in the downstairs bar at the John Godber Centre, Ogle Street, Hucknall.
Please contact Ann Murray email@example.com or Liz Attenborough firstname.lastname@example.org if you have not already put your name down.
