The Byron Festival ‘Art Competition’ winners from Hucknall U3A
At the August monthly meeting of a presentation was made by the Vice Chairman of the ‘Byron Festival Committee’ and fellow U3A member Mr Jim Spray to the winners of the Festival’s open Art Competition.
In third place was Carol Bricknell with ‘Framed Musician’, second place Patrick Kelly with ‘Venice Watercolour’ and in first place Lynda Jackson with ‘Lady in Mask’.
The active Watercolour Interest Group is led by Rose Ridley and tutored by Patrick.
The theme for this year’s competition was Italian, Venice or carnival, places and events that Lord Byron frequented during his life.
The competition was judged by Ann Clay, a member of the Nottingham Society of Artists who was very positive about all the entries for the competition.
The Byron Festival is now in its 20th year and provides a whole range of activities including drama, music, history days, and events at Newstead Abbey, poetry and art competitions which are open to everyone.
Now an apology:
The article that went into the Hucknall Dispatch included a photograph that was not of the 1st placed Lynda Jackson.
Sorry Lynda, here is the real you receiving the award for 1st place.
