Lunch Group

The Lunch Group meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 12 noon (unless otherwise stated) at a different restaurant each month. The menus vary in price and content but hopefully average out over the year at a reasonable cost. It is an opportunity for members to meet together socially and try out different restaurants which, as individuals, they may not have had the chance to try before. We always have a quiz which is usually related to the venue or its theme. We hope you will find something of interest to your “taste” and look forward to meeting up with you each month. I would love to hear about your recommendations for reasonably priced venues as we have been going for nearly ten years and are running out of new venues!

When putting your name down, if the menu is available, either at the meeting or on the website, could you please indicate your menu choices at that time.

We had our usual lovely Christmas Lunch at the Albert Hall, Nottingham, when June Williamson won the Christmas Sweepstake and Siobhan and Allan Lee won the Christmas Quiz which everyone felt was very difficult!

We are visiting The Hutt and the list is now full. Hopefully in February we may be going to Antalya Turkish restaurant in Nottingham.

On November 28th we went to Holly Tree Farm Carvery just off the Strelley Bypass where we had a lovely Carvery meal with excellent service from the staff. The quiz winners were June Williamson and Doreen Werle. After I read out the quiz answers, a lady from another table came and asked if she could have it for her group! My fame widens.

We hope to go to The Hutt in January so see the details on the website.

We tried something different on October 24th – Beauvale Priory at Watnall. It was a good mixture of hearty brunches and/or cream teas. It was hard to believe that such a peaceful, tranquil area was only around seven miles from Nottingham city centre. Unfortunately we were placed in the “spare” room which had very poor heating and all the food and drink had to be transported from the kitchen next door via the outside! But everyone said they enjoyed it. The “Identify the Shops Logo” was won by Pam Farrell and John Orosz.

On November 28th we go to Holly Tree Farm Carvery just off the Strelley Bypass. Please let me have your menu choices (which are on the U3A website) as soon as possible.

Please remember to bring your £9 balance to the November meeting for the Christmas Lunch on Wednesday, 19th December at the Albert Hall. Cheques to be made payable to Hucknall & District U3A please.
