12 stalwart walkers braved the rain, although it stayed off for a while, for our 4+ mile linear walk. The ‘hidden’ path along the River Lean from David’s Lane tram stop, a lovely walk, is only glimpsed here and there from the tram. We stopped at the memorial stone to PC Walker on the edge of Bulwell Forest Golf Course before wending our way back along the old rail track and Bestwood Mill Pond for a well deserved drink and hot meal at the Bowman.
On 19th March John Ellis will lead a 5 mile walk around Harlow Wood and Portland College starting at 10.00 from the Rushley Pub on the A60 Newstead Abbey to Mansfield Road. The pub is on the left going into Mansfield and, if coming from Newstead it is immediately after the traffic lights at the West Notts College. If coming from Annesley turn left at these lights (immediately after the Crematorium). He has arranged with the Rushley that we can park at the far end of the car park, turn right on entering. It will be possible to order food prior to the walk and John has copies of the menu.
Everyone welcome – just turn up on the day.
