Short Walks February Update

On the 18th February 22 members enjoyed a 5.5miles circular walk from The Griffin’s Head in Papplewick .
The route is a local ‘classic’ via the Linby Trail to Newstead Abbey and Papplewick Hall.
It was organised and led by one our new coordinators Barbara Broomhead who together with Liz Edwards has officially taken over coordinating the short walks group.
We are extremely grateful to them and it is up to us all to help by offering to organise and lead some of our monthly walks .This is especially important in the next few months as Liz and Barbara settle in to the role.

Future Walks
March 17th : Ravenshead and Blidworth 5 miles circular. Park at The Bird in Hand, Main Street
Blidworth NG21 OQH at 9.45 for a 10am start.
April 21st : Route Leader Tony Braithwaite . Bestwood Country Park circular.
Park at The Bowman Public House Nottingham Road Hucknall at 9.45am
If any member can offer to organise a route of a minimum of 4miles and a maximum of 5.5 miles for May, June or July please contact Liz or Barbara.
Finally some sad news.
One of our regular members and occasional walk leader Derek Hawksworth passed away on Friday 19th February after a short illness. As a group who very much enjoyed his company we offer our condolences to Barbara and family at this sad time.
