On Thursday 26th June our Science Group were fortunate enough to listen to a presentation by Keith J Barrington. a professor of Paedriatrics at the University of Montreal. The subject was Neonatology. This subject covers the ethics of decision making in the case of high risk new-born babies reaching back to 20 weeks gestation including his own daughter who was born at 24 weeks. Keith trained here at Liverpool University and worked in Warrington and Jersey then moving across the pond to Edmonton, (Canada),San Diego and now in Montreal. The 15 members present appeared to understand and appreciate what is a very complex subject.
The science group meets every 4th Thursday and is currently full at a membership of 25. Keep watching the board at monthly meetings of our U3A for an opportunity to join us.
