At our April meeting our guest scientist was Terry Hill who presented some interesting facts about the challenges posed to humans wishing to actually travel to and then spend some of their ‘Life on Mars’.
Back on Earth group members Ann and Ian Murray then took the group on a ‘spin’ around the Hadron Collider and explained some of the cutting edge technology that enables researchers to accelerate particles to almost the speed of light before colliding them and how this helps our understanding of the nature of fundamental particles and our universe.
