What's on Menu at the Lunch Group?

The Lunch Group meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 12 noon (unless otherwise stated) at a different restaurant each month. The menus vary in price and content but hopefully average out over the year at a reasonable cost. It is an opportunity for members to meet together socially and try out different restaurants which, as individuals, they may not have had the chance to try before. We always have a quiz which is usually related to the venue or its theme. We hope you will find something of interest to your “taste” and look forward to meeting up with you each month. I am always happy to hear about your recommendations for reasonably priced venues.
We are always grateful when members can offer lifts to non-drivers but could members contact the drivers directly please where possible, as it is getting to be a big job phoning round! Of course, I should be happy to find lifts for new Lunch Group members and I would also be grateful if drivers could indicate to me that they are willing to offer lifts. And please offer a contribution towards the cost of petrol if possible. When putting your name down, if the menu is available, could you please indicate your menu choices at that time.
On November 22nd we went Italian at Ciao Bella, Mansfield. Che pranzo meraviglioso abbiamo avuto a Ciao Bella, Mansfield oggi. Il personale e il cibo erano meravigliosi – or in other words “What a wonderful lunch we had at Ciao Bella, Mansfield today. The staff and food were wonderful”. We will definitely be returning! The Italy Quiz was won by Peter Hindle and John Orosz after a tie-breaker.
Just a reminder to those going for Christmas Lunch at The Albert Hall on December 20th; please be there for 12 noon and be seated by 12.30 pm. For those travelling by No.3 Trent bus to Victoria Centre, at the next bay up you can get any bus which goes up Derby Road (Ilkeston, No. 1 etc) and get off at the Cathedral to save you walking all the way up Parliament Street. Unfortunately it’s a one way road so you will have to walk back to Theatre Square or Market Square tram stop or Victoria Centre to return home.
January’s Lunch Group will be on Wednesday, 24th January at 12 noon at The Royal Oak, Watnall. There is a small car park opposite and one at the side of the pub also. Please let me know if you would like your name down as places are limited. I will circulate the menu at the beginning of January when the 2018 menu is available.
