The Lunch Group started in July, 2009 and meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 12 noon at a different restaurant each month. We also usually have a light-hearted paper quiz. Names are put down on a first-come, first-served basis and occasionally a deposit might be requested. The balance is usually paid on the day at the restaurant. Menu choices are made from the list at each U3A meeting and I then let the restaurant know members’ choices in advance. If you do not have transport, arrangements can always be made for another member to pick you up. There is a £1 per annum administration fee taken in July to cover the costs of quiz prizes, stationery and telephone expenses etc.
We go to a wide variety of venues both near to Hucknall and a little further away. I know the lists get full very quickly but unfortunately this is due to the limited seating capacity at the venues. As I have said before I am more than happy to help a new co-ordinator start a second Lunch Group.
Larch Farm at Ravenshead was our venue in April. Thirty six of us enjoyed our lunch at this almost “local” venue. The General Knowledge quiz was won by the team of Doreen Newton, Pam Farrell and Janet Trueman with a full score!

Cods Scallops at Wollaton and The Old Reindeer at Edingley are our May and June venues and are both full. The Old School House will be our July venue but this is rapidly filling up.
