Weekenders Witness Domestic Abuse in Skegness!

The events organised by either the Lunch Group or the Weekenders Group are open to all U3A members, regardless of whether they are regulars or not. Obviously places are sometimes limited so it’s first come, first served; I should be grateful if you could let me know if you are interested in these events as soon as possible so
that I can let other members know if I have places left. Our July to September programme is on the U3A website.
10th August saw sixteen of us enjoying lovely sunshine and fish & chips in Skegness with Lindsay Smith and Peggy Cooke winning the “Skegness Is So Bracing!” quiz.
Unfortunately I witnessed totally disgusting behaviour when a man and a woman were arguing in front of a load of kids and then she smacked him on the head and it all kicked off between them. A policeman turned up and he ended up using his baton on the bloke but the man actually managed to get the baton off the copper and he then started hitting him and the woman with it…………then a crocodile turned up and stole the sausages!
Then nine of us set out in good spirits to travel to Belper by train on 12th August. We located Strutts Mill and the River Gardens before sampling the hospitality of the town centre. It was then the decision of the majority to explore the current use of the De Bradelei Mill (shopping outlet). The sun shone and there was no drizzle – from anyone.
Our next event was Sunday lunch at The Countryman in Nuncargate on 27th August with yet another lunch at Arunothai on 2nd September.
