Violinist, Jenny Beaumont, to entertain on 28th February 2017

The Music for Pleasure group held its first session of the year on 31st January 2017 when we listened to the music of some of the musicians and personalities who had passed away during 2016.  From an extensive list of names, the evening’s programme consisted of music by George Michael, David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, Prince, Rick Parfitt of Status Quo, Sir Jimmy Young and the brilliant comedienne Victoria Wood.
One of the first losses of 2016 was that of the much loved and respected broadcaster, Terry Wogan, whose legion of TOGs (Terry’s old geezers and gals) still mourn his passing.  A highlight of his morning radio show was the telling of the Janet and John stories, and we laughed along to a couple of these in tribute to Terry.
The group enjoyed its usual mix of music and conversation, with the customary break for coffee and cakes.
John indicated that he would still be willing to continue as co-ordinator for the group, but asked if a group member would be willing to attend meetings, as this was difficult for him.  Margaret White was happy to take on this role, for which the group offered their thanks.
Violinist Jenny Beaumont, the daughter of group member Mary Wilson, has agreed to entertain the group at our next meeting on 28th February 2017.
