Our October walk started from the Whitegates Hotel in Forest Town, after a brisk walk down the lane opposite we came to the River Maun.
Walking past the fishing lagoons we paused to see several fish being caught and spoke to the fishermen about their catch, it’s quite amazing how the size of catch varies in size against the fisherman’s description.
Following the path away from the river up to the woodland we continued enjoying views of the river valley until heading through the farm and back to the road.
We all stayed for lunch at the Whitegates Hotel before heading for home after a most enjoyable day.
Our thanks to Chris Garner for a most enjoyable walk.
Our next walk on the 21st November starts at the Plough in Farnsfield is around the Hexgreave Estate, and will be our last walk of the year.
