Short Walk Group
A ‘recce’ walk that took 5 hours, completed by the short walk group in TWO! Is this a record? Well no, as the 6 year old on the ‘recce’ thought that swishing sticks was far more fun than actually walking.
The short walks group’s autumnal October walk took us along an overgrown canal; past a farm with emus [or possibly rheas] and alpacas, up a gentle incline to a misty view over the fields, returning via the canal and two young swans just losing their ‘ugly duckling’ coat. A very, very leisurely lunch was taken at the pub in Awsworth – I don’t think that they started peeling the spuds till we walked through the door! Overall a pleasant way to spend a Thursday, especially once the sun came out.
Our next walk on Thursday 20th November is from the Broomhill Inn on Broomhill Road, Hucknall. The 4/5 mile walk will take us: along the disused Central Railway Line to Bulwell Park to view the ‘Tree Sculptures’; past Rolls Royce; returning via Farley’s Spring. Everyone is welcome – just turn up on the day for 10.00a.m. start – with lunch at the Broomhill Inn for those who wish to stay.
