You would think that John Ellis could cope with anything but he was bossed around something rotten on the Short Walks Group’s April foray, by HORSES, no less…must be female!
Paul Healey led us up from Lowdham to views over the Vale of Trent, past old, renovated textile mills on the banks of the Dover Beck, through Lowdham churchyard -“There sleeps Titania sometime of the night”- finally returning to the World’s End for lunch. Thanks Paul, another good one.
Our next walk, led by Derek and Barbara Hawksworth, will be on Thursday 21st May starting at 10.00 from Manor Farm Tea Rooms, Bleasby. The 4 mile walk which circles round to Goverton has no steep hills just one or two gradual inclines giving views towards Southwell Minster “pepper pots”. Lunch will be at the Manor Tea Rooms and should be booked and paid for on arrival prior to the walk.
The Short Walks Group is an open group and welcomes anyone from the U3A who would like to turn up on the day.
