Short Walking Group
This Group was first formed at Ashfield U3A with Dorrie Kirton as Coordinator. When Hucknall U3A formed Dorrie ran the Group for both U3As. Members who wanted a morning walk at a not too strenuous pace, but faster than a stroll, joined her for a 2 hour walk. This expanded to include lunch for anyone who wanted to stay. Owing to health problems Dorrie had to hand over the Coordinating of the Group and we were fortunate enough to have in our midst Jim Bentley a walk leader.
Over the years members of this Group have improved their walking capabilities and moved on to walk with either the Medium or Long Walks Groups. Despite knee problems Jim has continued to Coordinate the Group although leadership of some of the walks has been taken on by Group Members. Thank you to all those who have volunteered.
It is planned that new walks will be part of this and next year’s schedule.
There are now places available in this Group. If you fancy starting walking for health and a good social morning then please contact Jim on the form below. There is an information board at the monthly meeting.
