The view from the top of Castle Hill towards Jacksdale and beyond was a lovely reward after the long climb and the frustrations of struggling to find a way through the woods –Sorry everyone and thanks Geoff for finding the way. 17 of us enjoyed discovering this little known corner on the Notts/Derby border, starting our walk from Codnorpark Reservoir where we “oohed” over 2 swans with their very young, tiny-winged, cygnets, before continuing along the bank of the Cromford Canal.
Our next walk, on Thursday 17 July, starts at the Red Lion Pub, Wellow at 09.45 for a 10.00. start. The 4/5 mile walk will be led by Paul Healey, and takes in parts of Rufford and Ollerton. Look forward to seeing you there. [By the way, Paul and Diane have already walked the route TWICE! So hiccups not expected]
