The Science Group are to visit the National Mining Museum, in Wakefield, Yorkshire on Thursday, 24th April. We have hired a 29 seater bus and currently 18 of our members will go going so we have 11 vacant seats on the bus. Could you please ask if any members of the U3A would like to go on this visit. The cost if we fill the bus will be £8.75p per person. The bus leaves the Market Place, Hucknall at 10.00 am on the 24th and will leave Wakefield at 4.00pm arriving home at approximately 6.00pm.
The museum is a very interesting place and there will be a trip down the mine if members want to do this but there is plenty to see on the surface.
The National Coal Mining Museum for England provides a great day out with a unique opportunity to travel 140 metres underground down one of Britain’s oldest working mines. Situated in a rural setting, it offers an unusual combination of exciting experiences, whilst providing a genuine insight into the hard-working lives of miners through the ages. – See more at: http://www.ncm.org.uk/visitors#sthash.hPcpeXDk.dpuf
