There was an extremely good turnout for the U3A Pub Quiz on 11th January with 39 members taking part. The winning team was the “Maybe, Maybe Nots” and runners up were The Tynees and Three Muses.
For those who have not yet joined us, the format is that we arrive at the Nabb Inn between 12 noon and 12 15, order and pay for our drinks and lunch at the bar (but it is not necessary to have lunch but we can certainly recommend it for both quality and value for money). Then we get together in a team. Don’t worry if you are on your own; there are several teams with just a few members and they would welcome some extra brain power!
The subscription per person is 50p for which the team is given a quiz sheet. Just for a bit of extra fun we have a £1 raffle, which includes a bottle of wine (courtesy of the Nabb Inn), several other prizes and our Bumper Bag of goodies. (If you feel so inclined, please feel free to put a small item into the Bumper Bag to build up its value). We then have the Quiz, compared by John Peters, after which we have lunch & then the answers. There is a small prize for each member of the winning team, & also for the members of the teams coming second & third. We think this is a good format, especially having the Quiz in the daytime, as many people do not want to turn out at night-time, especially now that the winter nights are coming.
So why not join us on the second Monday of each month for a bit of fun and a bit of brain exercise? The February quiz will be on the 8th.
