Music for Pleasure Welsh Theme

The Music for Pleasure group met on Tuesday 28th October when the music contained a Welsh theme. Artists included (inevitably) Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey, also Katherine Jenkins, Aled Jones, Charlotte Church and the Band of the Welsh Guards. The list also included, perhaps surprisingly, Catherine Zeta Jones duetting with Alfie Boe. There were more items from Alfie Boe and from Gareth Gates, both of whom were subsequently discovered not to have been of Welsh origin, but whose music was nonetheless appreciated amongst the mix.
There was the, by now customary, combination of music and conversation enjoyed by all the members. Delicious home-made treats were provided by Peggy during the interval.
The next meeting will consist of the group’s pre-Christmas meal at the Broomhill on Tuesday 29th November. It was decided not to hold a meeting during December when many people have a fairly busy social calendar in the run-up to Christmas.
Plans for meetings during 2017 were discussed. A Music Quiz night was proposed for the January meeting. 2017 plans also include an evening with music provided by violinist Jenny Beaumont.
Thanks, as usual, go to John, who has hosted the Music for Pleasure group since its inception.
