Music for Pleasure March

The group met again last night and I think we can describe ourselves as small but perfectly formed! Two of our members were not available but five of us enjoyed a wonderful evening of diverse music. We ventured on a trip down memory lane with the crooners, Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bing and Sammy Davis Jr. Our journey took us to K D Lang’s music and we listened to half a dozen of her beautiful songs. Being U3A we of course needed refreshments so tea/coffee and cakes were consumed. The second half of our evening turned to jazz, who knew that Westlife had released an outstanding jazz album! Jools Holland and Rumer to Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald to Dave Brubeck were just some of the artists we listened to. John Peters our host and coordinator is a master at serving up a delightful mixture of many types of music.
Our next meeting will have a selection of Beatles, guitar music, Elvis and Queen and over the coming months we intend to listen to piano, opera, show music, tenors, Carpenters, Abba, brass bands and classical. Can you suggest anything else? If so, come along to our next meeting on Tuesday 31st March 6.45-8.45pm. We are game for any type of music and I’m sure John will find it in his huge catalogue! More details on the board in the Information room or you can contact John Peters on the form below.
