The meeting of the Music for Pleasure Group this month was a celebration of the 80th birthday of one of our members, Jean. Our host, John, had chosen a suitable selection of music from each of the decades of Jean’s life, from the 30’s up to the present day. There was a diverse programme consisting of early jazz, popular music of the day and music from the musicals. Everyone enjoyed casting their mind back to the tunes they could remember, although many of us protested that they were ‘before our time’! We did have fun guessing the name of the performers though.
There was our, by now usual, interval spread of buffet food, which we all enjoyed as we presented Jean with gifts of flowers, cake, wine and an 80th birthday balloon!
