John and Sue Beharall were our walk leaders in March and 31 of us enjoyed a lovely six mile walk in the Chatsworth Estate. We parked in the Calton Lees car park, next to Chatsworth Garden Centre and headed towards Calton Houses. A steady climb on a variety of surfaces, past streams and woods took us towards Calton Pasture. We had our lunch here with spectacular views of Chatsworth House. We then headed towards New Piece Wood and Edensor, a beautiful Chatsworth Estate village. We returned via the river and back to the car park. The walk took us 4 hours to complete and then most of us went on to Rowsley for a drink in the Grouse and Claret pub. And to round the day off we just had to shop in the Peak Shopping Village! A few folk gave the Garden Centre Café a try, which is also a lovely place to visit.
We all had a fabulous day – thank you to John and Sue.
Our next walk is on: TUESDAY 22nd April to Trent Meadows
