Lunch Group Autumn Plans

On July 29th forty-seven of us enjoyed our lunch on the Nottingham Princess Riverboat cruise. Luckily the rain held off until we arrived back in Hucknall so we were able to sit outside and enjoy the riverside views, some of which brought back memories for those who went to school in the area and others showed a wide variety of riverside homes. The quiz was a nautical-themed one and was won by Cath Richardson and Siobhan Lee.
On August 26th we found our way to The Hilcote Country Club, Blackwell, South Normanton for a very reasonably priced and appetising lunch at £6.45 for two courses. The General Knowledge quiz was won by Phyllis & Steve Hooley and new member, Kath Brooks.
We plan a visit to The Shepherd’s Rest at Lower Bagthorpe on September 23rd so make sure you have made your menu choices beforehand please. We are hoping to lunch at The Countryman in Kirkby in Ashfield on 28th October and there is a £5 deposit required for this lunch. On November 25th we shall try Cosmo, a recently opened World Buffet in the Trinity Square area of Nottingham.
We are planning our annual visit on December 16th to the Albert Hall for Christmas Lunch & Dick Whittington panto at Nottingham Playhouse. I shall need the Panto payment of £23.50 at the September meeting. I shall also need the Lunch payment of £22.50. Please make your cheque payable to Hucknall & District U3A. Just a reminder that you do not have to attend both the lunch and the panto.
When putting your name down for the Lunch Group would you please indicate whether you can offer lifts to others or if you need a lift. It’s getting to be quite a big task to sort lifts out so if you have been having regular lifts with the same person, could I please ask you to make your own arrangements with them directly? Of course I will still try to get lifts for new members to the Lunch Group and am always very grateful to those members who kindly offer lifts.
The menus for our lunches will be on the U3A website. If you cannot be at the September U3A meeting, you may email your name to go down but please also check the list at the next monthly U3A meeting to make sure it’s down, together with your menu choice.
