Keep up to date with Mid-Length Walking

Mid-Length Walking Group
On Monday 16th October Philip and Liz Attenborough led 31 of us on a pleasant 7 mile walk, starting from The Bull’s Head in Breaston. We walked along part of the old Derby Canal to Draycott, where many of the villagers still proudly fly their flags. Apparently, seven years ago, the village received a local award for “best in bloom” and flag poles were provided for anyone who wanted one.
We carried on to St Chad’s Water via the River Derwent, where we stopped for lunch. From St Chad’s church we walked along the ‘Coffin Walk’ back to Breaston. Coffins had to be carried a long way prior to the consecration of St Michael’s church, in 1824. Thank goodness we only had a rucksack to carry! We enjoyed drinks in the pub after the walk.
Our next walk will be led by Sue and John Tedstone, on Monday November 20th.
We will be walking from The Village Hall carpark in Ticknall (Free).
