In May we looked at the work of the polymath Jared Diamond. He is a physiologist, geographer, research scientist, a renowned expert on the birds of the Pacific Islands and a gifted linguist.
He has a theory that ‘Germs, Guns and Steel‘ shaped the development of civilisations across the globe. After our short interval there were interesting contributions from John Tedstone, Sue Tedstone, David Wormall and Pat Rose.
Next month we will consider the germs element of Jared Diamond’s theory followed by further contributions from group members.
There will also be a short introduction to Nottinghamshire’s water supply in preparation for our July visit to Papplewick Pumping Station. The June meeting is your last opportunity to sign up and pay the £6.00 for this visit.
