History Group at Cresswell Crags

An early meeting on 4th April, 2018, took the History Group to Cresswell Crags. I’m sure any member will say how marvellous it was. The talk was fantastic, well presented and illustrated. We learned about Neanderthal people living in the caves and even that all of us have some Neanderthal DNA. Even a shower could not spoil our walk to the caves where we were supplied with hard hats and attached lights. Our posture was tested as we moved into deeper caverns where we learned still more about the animals who lived there and the artwork done by the people. The cafe wasn’t bad either. The visit made us think that Cresswell Crags was really worth another trip sometime to see other caves and maybe different talks.

The next trip is to Blists Hill and Ironbridge on Wednesday 16th May, 2018. Meet on the Market Place for departure at 9 am. Any remaining monies to be paid at the U3A meeting on 9th May, please,

June 20th, 2018 is the date for Nottingham Caves. Meet at 1.45 pm. More details later.

July and August – No meeting

September – A talk by Peoples Histreh (This is not a spelling mistake) about Nottingham Cheese riots.
