First Art

In keeping with the ethos of the U3A of self help and self-learning we intend to keep you up to date on the activities of First Art in the Ashfield and Hucknall area.
What is First Art?
Over the next 3 years First Art will bring great art, incredible events and exciting new opportunities to the residents of Hucknall, Ashfield, Mansfield and North East Derbyshire. We at Hucknall U3A feel that many of our members will wish to take advantage of this and give themselves the opportunity to increase their cultural experience and knowledge.
First Art is funded by the Arts Council and is organised by Cresswell Heritage Trust, Junction Arts, City Acts, The Princes Trust and community representatives. It is not managed or run in anyway by the U3A – we just feel that our members may possibly enrich their lives by learning more about the various cultures made available by First Art and we feel that providing the information on these activities is in line with the ethos of our organisation.
Through this 3 year programme we will help connect our community with great art and cultural experiences in the company of nationally and internationally renowned artists. It is possible to stay in touch with the events and opportunities being arranged by visiting the First Art website and signing up to their mailing list or alternatively we intend to post information on our U3A website and Newsletter as and when it is available.
With regard to the first activities taking place week commencing March 9th 2015 there is a visit to a classical music concert at the Royal Concert Hall on Thursday 12th which includes coach transfer from Hucknall to the Concert Hall, a back stage visit before the concert – a 2 hour concert of Popular Classics by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and return to Hucknall by 9.45 – all for £5.
This is rather late notice for these events but you may be able to be included by contacting alma@firstart.org.uk or 07947292513 or speak to Joe Pick at First Art.
For more information on this venture feel free to contact Alan Snape on 07940146542 or on the form below.
