Weekenders Goings On

I planned a Macmillan Fun Night In on May 30th and invited members of the Weekenders to join me. There were a number of “fun” games to play, including Fib or Fact, Guess the Song, How Well Do You Know Your Flicks, and Dare or Donate, as well as a raffle and Lucky Ticket Number. Unfortunately only two members turned up! So we had a jolly good natter instead. We hope to try again for a Macmillan Fun Night In during the school holidays.
Lottie’s Secret Tearoom was our venue for an Ascot Afternoon Tea on Friday, 12th June. Nearly everyone wore their best hats but unfortunately someone invited the Queen Mother (see photo). But as usual it was a wonderful Afternoon Tea and Lottie is booked up for the rest of the year. We had a Ladies Day Gold Cup sweepstake which was won by Joyce Burton.
On 20th June we lunched at Encounters in Nottingham (again another wonderful meal, so good that we might have this venue as another bi-monthly one!) and then went shopping!
Our Coffee Club on 1st August will have a theme of “Guess whose baby this is?” as we did not do this after all at the July Coffee Club. Bring a photo of your child or grandchild and we will try to guess whose it is. In July our day trip to Crich Tramway Museum is now full.
I am taking names and menu choices for Arunothai on Saturday, 25th July.
All events organised by either the Lunch Group or the Weekenders Group are open to all U3A members, regardless of whether they are regulars or not. Obviously space is sometimes limited so it’s first come, first served. For any information about the the Weekenders Group please contact Sandra Green on the form below.
