Weekenders News September

A copy of the programme will be on the Hucknall U3A website. All events organised by either the Lunch Group or the Weekenders Group are open to all U3A members, regardless of whether they are regulars or not. Obviously places are sometimes limited so it’s first come, first served; I should be grateful if you could let me know if you are interested in these events as soon as possible so that I can let other members know if I have places left.
On Saturday, 17th September, nine of us went to the newly opened “Cod’s Scallops” on Mansfield Road (near Lidl). This venue has been judged as the third best in the UK for fish and chips. Afterwards we did a recce at Lidl and caused chaos trying out all the different cheap perfumes they had.
Our September Coffee Club was on Saturday, 24th and the topic for discussion (amongst others!) was “Houses I have lived in”. It was interesting to see how some people had moved around a lot and one or two had only lived in two houses in their lifetime. We also welcomed back Lindsay Smith who is slowly recuperating after her long stay in hospital.
We plan a Day in Nottingham on Saturday, 1st October when we shall visit the Speigel Tent on the Old Market Square, followed by lunch at The Roebuck and then a guided tour of The Malt Cross on St. James’s Street, which we are told has a fascinating history.
