Learning about Wine

Our Wine Tasting Group has been running for a year and a half now and we take it in turns to host it in our own homes.
Thinking of the U3A’s ethos of learning from each other/together John T. helped us learn all about Claret/Bordeaux this month. He provided four bottles of differing quality/prices and set out to teach us all about it! This wasn’t a blind-tasting like we usually do but a discussion on flavour and common characteristics. The big question is, “Will we be able to tell the difference between a Claret and a Merlot in the future?” Watch this space!!
Our two favourite wines were from M&S and unusually for us were the most expensive. Our overall winner, on this occasion, was ‘Mauregard’ Bordeaux (2013), costing £7.
