Short Walk – July

A pleasant and cooler walk was enjoyed by thirteen members in July. Starting at the tram stop in Hucknall we made our way to Brooke Farm in Linby for refreshments. We were surprised to learn that some of us had never been there! We thought it was a popular U3A coffee stop!

Back through Papplewick Woods, via Moor Pond, and onto the path along the River Leen where the (almost) newly laid path was admired by some of us! Back home by the bottom of the golf course to our starting point.

Singalong

Due to the high temperatures on Tuesday 19th July, we cancelled the Singalong which was due to be hosted by Chris and Dave Vincent.

As there is no Singalong in August, our next meeting will be the 20th September 2022 when Chris and Dave Vincent will present Songs from the Shows.

Keeeep Singing!

Where the Crawdads Sing

This film is being released on Friday 22nd July and is about an abandoned girl, Kya, who raised herself in Southern Carolina. For years rumours of the marsh girl haunted Barkley Cove, isolating the sharp and resilient Kya from her community. Drawn to two young men from town she opens herself to a new and startling world.

Director – Olivia Newman – adapted from the book by Delia Owens ( 2018)
Music – Mychael Danna
Producer – Reese Witherspoon
Cast: Daisy Edgar-Jones, Taylor John Smith – Harris Dickinson – David Strathairn

By the way a Crawdad is a fresh water Crayfish.

This film will be on at The ARC for the next 2/3 weeks and starts this Friday.

Easier Cycling

We meet at Hucknall Leisure centre at 9.30 am on Friday mornings. We are a friendly group who look forward to a gentle ride of no more than ten miles when the weather is fit. We ride to one of our favourite coffee stops, have a drink and a chat and then ride home.

Please come and join us if you would like to ease back into cycling or indeed if you want to take up cycling for the first time. We have fun, don’t take it all too seriously and have made some new friends as well.
