What a day we had with the visit of our History Group to Newark Air Museum. First we called in a layby to have a superb view of the Lancaster ‘Flight of Fancy’ how marvellous. Then over to the museum where Howard Heeley was waiting to take care of the group suggesting we call in the café to order food before our first tour. Yes. We stood under the Vulcan remembering one of these aircraft was flying round Hucknall in the 1950s; then looking round various other aircraft.
Meals for lunch were soon served, which considering the queue, were fresh and delicious. Again for the second tour Howard gave information easy for us to understand as we moved round the excellent displays. I have to admit by this time most of us were pleased there was a lot to see undercover.
Special thanks to all the staff who are all volunteers.
The next meeting is at Central Methodist Church on 18th November at 2pm. Our speaker is Ian Morgan who is telling us about Pestilence, Intrigue and Murder – what a topic.
There is no meeting in December as the date would take us close to Christmas.
Bye for now,
Maureen
