Pub Quiz and Lunch

The April Pub Quiz took place on the 3rd April when 17 of us met at The Nabb Inn.  All are welcome – we prefer a maximum of four to a team where possible as we can always add a person to another team if you would like to attend but haven’t got a team of your own. Sometimes the quiz is easy and occasionally it is very hard, but the idea is to have a bit of fun and to socialise whilst enjoying a lunch.

PLEASE NOTE:  The next Pub Lunch Quiz would have fallen on a Bank Holiday Monday so I have changed this to Monday, 15th May instead.

Reading Group

The May Reading Group will meet on Wednesday, 3rd May when the April choice (The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller) will be discussed.

The choice for May is The War of the Worlds – H. G. Wells.

Weekenders

The Weekenders April Newsletter was sent out to its members at the end of April. We went to Denby Pottery on Monday, 17th April.  Sadly we did not fill the bus so may have to re-think our outings if not enough members wish to attend.

Thanks to Margaret White who hosted a very pleasant Social Lunch on 22nd April.  We had a Broomhill Birthday Lunch on 28th April for Siobhan Lee which we all very much enjoyed followed by a Coronation-themed Coffee Club on 29th April.

A small group of us are also attending a Coronation Afternoon Tea at Morton’s Farm on Friday, 5th May.

Lunch Group

On 26th April, 28 of us visited The Countryman in the Kirkby in Ashfield area which was much enjoyed.

On the 24th May we are booked into The Corinthian, Goldsmith Street, Nottingham and a £5 deposit is required. Unfortunately this clashes with the National Trust outing so our numbers are depleted but there is still time to add your name, especially if you are new to the Lunch Group.

I should be grateful to receive any recommended venue suggestions within an eight to ten mile radius of Hucknall, as the menu prices for most places have gone up so much in recent months.

Kurling

The Kurling  group meets on the fourth  Sunday of the month.  The Venue is St Johns Church Hall, Nottingham Road, and the time is 3-5pm.
