Garden Group

Last month members listened to a talk about Ramblers, Scramblers and Climbers which can be used in any size of garden. If your garden is small then you can grow plants upwards, in pots. The group heard about the many different plants that can grow both with and without supports.

We were pleased to welcome new members to this group which is an open group so all are welcome. Just come along and join us.

The August meeting is a trip to Queen’s Park in Loughborough followed by a visit to Gates Garden Centre.

Easy Walkers

The Easy Walkers enjoyed a pleasant stroll around the outskirts of Bulwell Hall Park, stopping off for refreshments at the golf club house.

The earlier start of 9.45am meant we missed the midday heat. How quickly the area has turned brown, let’s hope we have some rain soon! Who’d have thought we’d be saying that!

Singalong

With the theme of “Holiday Destinations and Sunshine” (Part 1) 28 Singalongers enjoyed some new sounds at July’s meeting. Part 2 continues in August! 

Strollers

A smaller than usual group of Strollers took part in our walk around Burntstump Country Park. 

We all made sure that our car registration number was entered at the pub as we were aware of the fine should it not be done!

Refreshments followed at Brooke Farm, one of the favourite U3A haunts!

Science

There was no meeting in July and this month we meet on Friday 21st August at JGC.

Bob’s recent presentation about the ‘Science of Golf’ gave me an idea to follow up on how the Laws of Motion affect another area of everyday life.

We also aim to complete a few inventions ‘3-minute talks.
