Science Group

Science – 19th September

The plan is to reconvene at Bestwood Country Park for our indoor/outdoor meeting. We will have the use of the Dynamo House and kitchen for drinks.

Outside we will be launching rockets and aeroplanes.

Not one of these!                                   But more like this ‘water rocket’

There will also be an aeroplane making and flying competition with a prize and obviously prestige for the winner.

Thanks to Bob Gow for arranging the venue and to Margaret from the Dynamo House café kitchen for allowing us to use the facilities.

There will be an opportunity of a guided tour for anyone who has not made a visit to the unique Winding House or for anyone who wishes to have another look.

More details will be sent to all Science Group members later.

Litter Picking

Combined with the holiday season and another very warm month, August has not been conducive to members spending a lot of time outside collecting rubbish. Nevertheless, 14 bags of litter have been removed from our environment by the group. One member who regularly litter picks on a park has noticed that despite there being ample litter bins at strategic points, during the school holidays there is an increase in litter strewn about the park even in the trees! At least ‘back to school’ is nearly upon us.

If anyone is interested in joining our group please contact me as per details at the end of the newsletter.

Easy Walkers

Our August walk through woods and open fields, taking in views of the Solar Farm and the old Brick Yard (which prompted memories of the Sunday Markets gone by) was  enjoyed by twelve easy walkers. We ended up at the Nabb Inn for refreshments.

The walk was longer than usual, I’ll ensure the next one is a little shorter!

Strollers

A local walk from Titchfield Park through to Bulwell Hall Golf Club via Farleys Lane was the choice for our latest venture.

It was a little longer than expected but everyone enjoyed the walk and chat, (and the coffee at the Golf Club was welcome  too!)

Details of our next walk will follow.
