Weekenders Group

In March we enjoyed two, well attended, Broomhill meals arranged to celebrate the birthdays of Kay, Margaret (Whilde), Pam and Eunice.

The Easter weekend saw us at Keycraft sorting out seasonal plants for the garden while the York Designer shopping outlet proved very tempting on the 6th of April.

A group of us were intrigued by a talk offered at the Djanogly, Lakeside Arts Centre on the 9th of April, this related to the lives of women during the miners’ strikes of the 1980s. The stories were collected as part of the research being carried out by the speaker, Dr Lisa McKenzie.

The Weekenders

Our February birthday celebration for Christine, was on the 16th at the Broomhill where we managed to fill our time discussing recent medical operations and procedures! The difference between the two – as explained by one of our members – is that an operation involves a cut, and a procedure is merely a poke!

Coffee Club was on the 24th, the last Saturday of the month.

Our first bus trip of the year is on Saturday April 6th, and this is to the York Designer Shopping Outlet. Then on Saturday 13th April we plan to use our bus passes to travel to Southwell where there is a Spring Craft Fair.

Weekenders

In January we had a planning meeting to share our ideas and suggestions for the group and create a list of forthcoming events.

We held a celebratory birthday meal for Doreen, at the Broomhill Inn, on the 12th and on the 27th we have arranged for a coffee club meet up.

In February we are looking to visit Brooke Farm in Linby, on the 3rd, and have been invited to the home of one of our members to have a lunch and social get together on the 10th.  We have decided to book some day trips out by coach when the weather is a little warmer.

In November we had one birthday lunch at the Broomhill for June.  Sadly we had to cancel the trip to Chesterfield Christmas market due to delay in booking but members can visit the market by catching the bus from Hucknall to Sutton and then Sutton to Chesterfield – if you would like to meet up together.

Finally, we met for Coffee Club at Lindsay’s on November 20th.  There are no plans for December so far.
