When the Lunch Group was first set up in 2009, it was meant to be an opportunity to try restaurants we may not have been to before, especially for single members who might be reluctant to visit such places on their own. We can visit the “pub” style lunches anytime but it is nice occasionally to lunch somewhere a bit different. However since Covid many of these venues have increased their prices vastly and as our members often belong to many other groups which might involve costs, it can all add up greatly.
In future I hope to book venues with more reasonable prices and also within an eight mile or so radius of Hucknall to also take account of the increased petrol prices. I should be grateful for your recommendations please.
On Wednesday, 22nd June we went to an old favourite, The Thorn Tree at Woodlinkin (a “George’s” fish restaurant). And, yes, the price of fish has gone up indeed!
On 27th July we are going to The Royal Oak at Westwood; unfortunately I had booked it before their new menu was printed and yes, again the prices have increased significantly. I shall need a £5 deposit please along with your menu choices.
On 24th August at a member’s request we are going to Mr Man’s Chinese at Wollaton Park for which I shall also need a £5 deposit.
