Medium Walking Group
The Medium Walking Group meets on the 3rd Monday of the month, usually starting at 10.00.
Walks are 6–7 miles in length and usually include some moderate climbing and sometimes some stiles as well. We go further afield during the summer months, up to a maximum of 1 hour driving time. During the winter months, we stay closer to Hucknall and sometimes use the Nottingham Tram to reach our starting point, which can be a City-based walk on good footpaths.
We take coffee and a picnic to eat en-route and usually end with a drink in a pub or café.
Members are encouraged to lead walks, and we meet each November to compile a programme for the following year. We can usually organise a lift for members without transport.

- Medium WalksFor our July walk we ventured north to Ollerton village, and followed a circular route, pausing at Wellow for our coffee stop, and to hear about the history of the famous Maypole which stands in the centre of the village green. - Medium WalksTansley and Riber We had a welcome return to the Peak District for our latest walk. From the start at Tansley, it was mostly either uphill or downhill, and by general agreement a very enjoyable walk, and also slightly longer than usual at just over 7 miles. After passing Riber Castle, we needed a few …
- Medium Walks – Elvaston CastlePossibly our warmest April walk so far started at Elvaston Castle, near Borrowash, and just over the border in Derbyshire. The estate is owned by Derbyshire County council, and became one of the first Country Parks, in 1970. The castle, which is not open to the public, was the home of the Earl of Harrington, …
