Member’s Monthly Meetings
We meet at the John Godber Centre (JGC) on the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 2.00 pm, with the exception of all February meetings which are on the 3rd Wednesday due to other commitments at JGC.

David Coleman is an ex Miner who worked in local collieries. He is talking to us today about his working life and arrives in full miner’s working clothes.

Bob Reed is giving a talk to us today about toilets – Why should we want to talk about toilets, you may ask?
You’ll have to come along to this serious yet entertaining talk to find out!
Wednesday, 18th February 2026 – NB change of date due to Beer Festival at JGC on 11th
Noel Kelly, a member of another u3a group gives a fascinating and moving talk about the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

Alistair Littlewood is a professional storyteller. His topic for our meeting is ‘Tales from the Vikings’.

We welcome today Edward Cook talking about Re-Wilding. The talk includes a quiz, props and a focus on the science and what we can all do to improve our gardens for wildlife.
General Information
Car parking is available on the Market Place and Piggins Croft, both of which are a short walk away. There is a small charge for parking at the JGC (50p for 2 hours £1 for 4 hours), the proceeds of which help to support the church.
Entry to the meeting is from the car park entrance only, please, not before 1:30pm. Please sign in at the tables at the front of the hall. If leaving before the end of the meeting, it is important for health and safety that you sign yourselves out.
In the event of the fire alarm sounding, then please make your way to the rear car park by means of the rear doors. The assembly point is the Scout Hut in the far corner of the car park.
We will be using the JGC loop system for those of us with hearing aids, please switch to your loop setting. If unable to do this, then please sit on front row seats.
