Christmas Tree comes Fourth

CRAFT GROUP 2 Christmas Tree comes Fourth
Members of Craft Group 2 had been planning and working on the decorations for the Hucknall U3A Christmas tree to be displayed at the Christmas Tree Festival in St Mary’s Church for 10 months. Their work was finally put together on 4th December with the help of the honorary member, Brian Stanley, who had made the tree from wood donated by Woods Timber.
The theme was the 12 Days of Christmas, Dianne White knitted the realistic Partridge, and Rose Ridley sewed the Two Turtle Doves, from fabric used for her wedding dress, Rose also water coloured the Eleven Pipers Piping and made the Lord a Leaping. Three French Hens complete with stripped jumpers and berets were made by Val Kelly, who also made the numbers from felt and the sequinned pears.
Four Calling Birds where knitted by Vivian Ellis who also crocheted the Six Geese a Laying complete with eggs and made a made very long cow with the Eight Maids a Milking. Five Gold Rings complete with Kohinoor Diamonds were a stunning central feature made by Sue Stanley. Seven Swans Swimming were painstakingly hand craft from translucent parchment by Pat Painter.
Dianne Heenan made a delightful Lady Dancing with a red net skirt and to finish the bottom branch of the tree, stamped and exquisitely coloured with red tunics and glitter Twelve Drummers Drumming made by Janet Robinson. Well done everyone.
