Adventure Before Dementia – Quasar

The six Marvel troupers were given the task of entering the dark smoky atmosphere of the dungeon, armed with only their lasers as they went into battle eager to take on the enemy. There was a lot of ducking and diving going on and, at the same time, trying to shoot the enemy – there were no casualties.

Seriously we had a good time, very exhilarating and great fun.

Adventure Before Dementia – Go Karting

The indoor Venue at Teamsport in Netherfield was our first foray into the Go Karting, we had a briefing on the does and don’ts and then were kitted out with an overall, headgear and gloves. It was time to enter the pits and find our Karts.

Once we had found the brakes and accelerator we were let loose around the track. There were two races and we were given our speed around the circuit plus the number of laps on a printout at the pit stops. We all increased our speeds on the second run particularly the more competitive of us. Everyone had a good time and is looking forward to the next adventure.

Segway Adventure

There were ten intrepid members of the Adventure Before Dementia group arriving at Sherwood Pines on Friday, 20th July. After ten minutes instruction we were already one down, but not out; a further five minutes instruction and we were off. We followed our instructor through the beautiful trails of Sherwood Pines. Just as we were settling into an easy sedate pace, the instructor altered the settings on the Segway and doubled the speed and we moved on to rougher terrain, one more down but not out. Both fallers were okay and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a great time and finished off with a coffee and a chat.

Horse-riding experience

Five of us arrived at the Woodside Riding Stables on a lovely sunny morning on Wednesday, 18th April. After registration we were given a hat to wear and then they brought the horses through, it wasn’t until we had to get on them that we realised how big they were, thankfully there was a mounting block and we were helped on by the staff.

We were taken into the paddock and taught how to make them stop and start and how to turn them left and right and then we went on the hack.

It was a lovely walk through the woods in Bestwood Country Park; the sun was shining through the trees, the horses were well behaved (mind you one of the horses was trying to get amorous with another which could have been a bit embarrassing), apart from that they were well behaved, the staff were friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
