Science Group

The Group discusses all manner of issues facing the world today. We meet at the John Godber Centre on the fourth Thursday of the month at 10 am until 12 noon. Currently we have a total membership of 25 and have decided at this stage not to accept any new members until such time as the Group settles down following a recent increase in membership. We are trying to encourage members to put forward their views and ideas so that we develop a varied and interesting programme.

We have recently discussioned Climate Change and its effects (or not as the case may be), Population Growth and Genetically Engineered Crops. A few Members of the group have also attended an Astronomy Course and they will no doubt be updating the Group on the latest developments and discoveries in the universe. Visits to Rolls Royce Heritage Centre, The Leicester Space Centre and the Snibstone Centre are to be arranged. We are currently in the process of drawing up a plan of visits and additional lectures. On the 30th April our Group will be visiting Bletchley Park (Home of the Codebreakers) where we will also visit “Colossus and Tunny” and hear a talk entitled “World War 2 Evacuees Story”.
