How about joining us for a joint trip on 27 April to Bolsover Castle and Hardwick Hall? Bolsover Castle is an English Heritage site, but being a U3A group we can enjoy free entry!

Bolsover Castle

We leave Hucknall Leisure Centre at 9.00 am and set off from Hardwick Hall at 5.00 pm. The cost of the transport is £9.00 each which includes the driver’s tip. Group rate entrance to Hardwick Hall for none National Trust members is a further £10.00.

Short Walks

February’s walk around Sherwood Forest being the groups first walk of the year proved to be an interesting venture for the 28 members of our group.
Starting from the Cricket ground car park we walked via the visitor centre to the forest grazing area were several members paused to observe the bird wildlife,
we returned to the visitor centre via the Major Oak for well earned refreshments.

Our March Walk around Selston will be lead by John and Sue Tedstone starting from the Hole In the Wall Carvery car park at 10am.

For the eighth year, four nights bed, breakfast, evening meal and a full program of entertainment included.

Pictures and reports from this year are available on both Mansfield and Sherwood web sites.

I am in receipt of a price and I have done a pricing for the holiday, taking into account we have the whole hotel to fill. Prices range from £192 for standard to £262 for a Historic Suite.

This break is available to members of U3A but friends are allowed to join in if there is space. First come first served.

Short Walks – February

Our walk on February 16th is around Sherwood Forest.

Starting at the usual time of 10am we will follow a way-marked route taking in points of interest and viewpoints along the way in this ancient forest.

The starting point is the car park at the cricket ground in Edwinstowe NG21 9RN.

After the walk refreshments may be purchased from the Visitor Centre and a short walk will return you to the cricket ground and car park.

Directions — Approaching from A614 turn left at Rose Cottage pass Center Parks straight across traffic lights in Edwinstowe follow one way system turn right at lights immediate left at second set lights within 500 yards turn left to car park on right

Choir

I am pleased to report we had 6 new members join our choir last Wednesday. They all enjoyed the experience and it bought our numbers up to 27.

The next choir practice is on Wednesday, February 15th at 11.30am to 1.30pm. Please note we will be in the BAR room and not the STUDIO room as usual. This arrangement is just a one off.
