Diamond Jubilee Programme of Events

After great discussion the wine of the evening was a Mondelli-Italian Pinot Grigio Blush 12% from Sainsbury’s. This wine has a beautiful salmon colour with pleasing aromas of wild strawberries, combined with citrus and forest fruits, perfect on its own or with light dishes such as grilled chicken or fish. We all agreed that it would be nice to have on a hot summer evening, sitting in the garden, but don’t forget your spray for the gnats!!

Ann wore another pair of Laboutin shoes, Maureen looked stunning in a beautifully draped top, Barbara as usual sported a very chic hairdo and Diane was the youngest and looked it! All the men were handsome! Our next 3 dates are booked and on May 29th Diane and Malcolm are hosting the event. So something to look forward to as Malcolm loves cooking.

The coach fare is £11.00 but we need 34 people minimum. Please note this is a Monday, the property being closed on Fridays. I have booked this slightly earlier in the month than usual to avoid school holidays. Any non-National Trust members will need to pay an additional £9.90 entrance to the house and gardens.

There are extensive grounds and mobility scooters are available. Please let me know if you would like me to book a scooter for you during the day. There will be a 500m walk from the car park to the house on arrival if we arrive before 11 o’clock which is the intention. A free buggy is in operation after 11.00 o’clock to transport visitors from the car park.

We will meet at 8.30am at Hucknall Leisure Centre and we will leave no later than 5 o’clock.

Those wishing to go direct the post code is DN22 8SG. Take the A614 and join the A1. Take the A620 towards Retford, pass Ranby Prison. At the cross roads Sutton cum Lound/Morton turn left towards Sutton cum Lound (Sutton Lane). Follow this road until it joins the A638. Turn right towards Retford and the Idle Valley reserve is approximately half a mile on the left at the Tarmac entrance. Go down this lane and bear right towards the visitors centre. We should arrive about 10.30 to 10.45am.
