Diamond Jubilee Celebration (North Notts. Neighbourhood Group)
This event has been arranged for Tuesday 12 June at The John Fretwell Centre, Sookholme, Nr Warsop, in the form of a Street Party. The venue is a large sports centre that is decked out as a marquee and regularly used for weddings and by various groups for dinner dances. There is a large outside area with grass so whether the weather is fair or foul the event will proceed.
The day will start at 2pm, there will be music, possibly a steel band and taking us all back to the 1950′s there will be tables with games to play, a cake baking competition and outside will be the games organised by Hucknall U3A. If you don’t feel up to joining in then sit and watch everyone else making fools of themselves in the egg and spoon race, 4 (yes 4) legged race or trying to prove something while playing rounder’s. If you came to the Garden Party at Rufford last year you will know what we mean. If the thought of all that energy tires you out then watch them playing Boules.
All these will last till 5pm. after which the tables will be cleared and set for a fantastic High Tea Buffet at 5.30pm. consisting of a choice 6 different sandwiches, numerous savouries, a selection of 5 hot savouries and cakes and pastries, this will be a substantial meal and worthy of the occasion. Tickets for the Buffet will be on sale at £8 each at a future meeting. Everyone is invited to attend but it is not necessary to stay after 5pm for the buffet.
